Who should take this course?
This course is for every believer in Jesus Christ who wants to know and understand the call of God on their lives. It is especially helpful to mission committees and mission pastors. The online version of Perspectives takes added self-discipline. While it is not a correspondence course, your instructor will not require you to get your assignments in by a certain time. The advantage is that you control your schedule. But for some this is also a disadvantage. Make sure you are committed to completing the course and are willing to sacrifice other commitments to do so.
How long does it take?
Once your enrollment form with fees have been received in our office you will receive your logon name and password. You will have one year from the date you receive these to complete the course. If you do one lesson per week it could take only 15 weeks.
What does it cost?
The cost for certificate level is $150 US and $250 Canadian payable to International Christian Ministries. In addition, you will need to order the Study Guide and text book. These can be obtained through the Send the Light. If you desire to take the course for credit there will be added fees that must be paid to the Bible School or Seminary. These are determined by the school. If you are currently enrolled in a school speak with the academic dean about taking this course for credit.
Can I earn college credit?
Yes, the course is offered for undergraduate credit through Fresno Pacific University and for graduate credit through Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary. For more information read the perspectives online information page.
Is this an official site for Perspectives?
The online course is being promoted by the U.S. Center for World Mission, Perspectives office. This site is a joint project between International Christian Ministries and the U.S. Center.
Can I earn a certificate from the U.S. Center for World Mission?
Upon successfully completing the course, your name will be submitted to the Perspectives Office of the U.S. Center for World Mission. They will enter your name into their data base and issue you a Certificate of completion.
What are the requirements for completing the program online?
The following are required for each lesson: Answer Study Questions (usually about 8) and write a one or two page essay of a thought provoker for the lesson. In addition there are five short essays covering multiple lessons, a mid-term and final exam and a project. The project is an investigation of an Unreached People group. Should I take the online course or the one being offered in my area? While the online course offers a flexible approach to your studies we recommend that you take the Perspectives course in your area. The area courses have the advantage of group interaction and special weekly speakers.
Will this qualify me to take the coordinators course?
The U.S. Center for World Mission offers those who successfully complete the Perspectives course the opportunity to coordinate a live seminar in their area. They must first attend the coordinators workshop offered by the Center. Those successfully completing the online course are invited to apply to the U.S. Center to become coordinators in their area.
