New News of Africa

October, 2006 - Bakersfield, CA

Tired of the same old news about corruption, disease, wars and famine coming out of Africa? The New News is that the church in Africa is on the march!

Africans are impacting the world. That is the front page story the Wall Street Journal ran on the largest church in Europe being was started by a Nigerian. Story by Alan Cullison on July 21, 2006; Page A1

The largest church in England was also started by a Nigerian. In America there are hundreds of churches started by Africans. Originally reaching out to their own communities they are now moving beyond ethnic-cultural boundaries to main stream evangelicals. The evangelical African leader has landed in America!

Recently International Christian Ministries (ICM) hosted Chip Ingram, President of Walk Thru the Bible. They arranged for Chip to teach about 4,000 pastors and Christian workers in Nigeria. What was amazing was that instead of the 4,000they had prayed for and expected at least 50,000 people attended under a tin roof to hear God's word taught. The New News is God is raising up the Church in Africa to fulfill the Great Commission around the world!

Clip Ingram says, “Walk Thru the Bible has been partnering in Africa with International Christian Ministries since 1990.ICM’s knowledge of Africa and its extensive network make it an ideal partner to get Walk Thru’s training, tools, and materials into the hands of pastors across the continent.Together, ICM and Walk Thru the Bible are working to see God’s people discipled through strong and effective churches. We at Walk Thru the Bible are committed to working with others to accomplish our common vision. We count it a joy and blessing to be partnering with ICM and its national directors and their teams in Africa.”
