Introduction: Paul and Sheryl Giesbrecht traveled with me to Nigeria to participate in a week-long conference. After the week in Lagos, Nigeria Paul and I headed to Kenya and Uganda where we participated in the graduations at the seminaries in Uganda and Kenya (more on that later). Paul did an excellent job teaching and representing the ICM Board at the many meetings and churches we visited.
Sometimes I forget just what an amazing job our national leaders are doing. They are impacting lives at every level, from the heads of state to the rural pastor. Enjoy Paul's journal from our recent trip! Phil Walker

So we continued with our faculty robes, hoods, and mortar boards. Towels folded, diplomas stacked and ready. The music signaled the procession to begin amongst the cheering and cultural affirmations of friends and family.

In George Barna’s fifteen years of researching churches and organizations, he has concluded that the lack of leaders and leader training has lead to the decline in the church's influence. Seeing the students’ enthusiasm, completed coursework a
nd ICM’s devotion to practical “in service” training – I was confident of their future – and the church’s renewed influence.
The pomp continued as prestigious government and religious leaders gave accolades to the work of ICM graduates. During the ceremony, vans, cars, and trucks continued to empty their excited passengers. Meanwhile, cooks and helpers scurried about preparing the post-graduation feast.
And then.......
